Today our very own Dr. John Butts offered a presentation on a potential international project. John’s brother is founder/leader of a nonprofit called LinksWay Foundation. LinksWay focuses their efforts on a single village in Swaziland, Africa. LinksWay’s stated purpose is “Our purpose is to support community efforts in improving early childhood development, educational opportunities, and food security for vulnerable children and families”. Recent successful projects include: feeding over 140 hungry kids each day, drilling a well to provide clean water, and building a school with books/supplies and uniforms. Rotary Donates Warm Winter Coats!

Posted on Nov 28, 2017
On Tuesday, November 28, the Rotary Club of Bloomingdale-Roselle presented Keeneyville Elementary School District 20 with 81 new winter coats for needy families. “Igniting the power and potential of students is truly a community effort and for those children in need, we are very lucky to have such a caring service organization like the Rotary Club of Bloomingdale-Roselle,” said Dr. Michael Connolly, District 20 superintendent. The donation was organized by Rotarian, Jenny Yockey from Friendly Ford Inc. in Roselle. Working with Stratford Square Mall personnel and Carson’s store managers, Yockey secured a monetary donation and a discount on the coats. The remaining balance was paid for by the Rotary. “Their work and the support of Carson’s and Stratford Square Mall is helping to make it easier to ensure all of our students have what they need to come to school ready to learn,” added Connolly. “We deeply thank Rotary for their generosity.” Rotary Club of Bloomingdale-Roselle was founded in 1997 and is part of Rotary International, a global network with the motto, Service Above Self. With over 35,000 clubs nationwide, the service club works to make a difference in local communities and beyond. Bloomingdale-Roselle Rotary leads the fight against hunger.

Posted by Tim Jarzemsky on Jan 28, 2013

Hunger never takes a break and with the continuing tough economic times local food pantries are in demand more than ever. Responding to this need, the Bloomingdale-Roselle Rotary took action on Tuesday January 29 by assisting the Bloomingdale Township Food Pantry. Members of the club partnered with local Roselle grocer Pik-Kwik in an effort to help families in need.  The club raised money towards the purchase of $500 worth of food items.  In addition, and much the surprise of the club, the owners of Pik-Wik generously donated  $250 worth of in-kind donations towards extra food. Club members not only purchased the food, but helped re-stock the shelves at the Pantry. The motto of all Rotary clubs is “service above self” and the Bloomingdale-Roselle Rotary Club strives all year to exemplify that by working on humanitarian and charitable projects in our local communities.

Bloomingdale-Roselle Rotary participates in 50 Men Who Cook

Posted by Tim Jarzemsky on Sep 26, 2011
The Bloomingdale- Roselle Rotary had fun participating in the Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce’s, third annual 50 Men Who Cook.  The event hosted by Hilton Indian Lakes on Saturday September 24th was a huge hit, with over 500 people attending.   Attendees were able to sample dozens of varieties of food from appetizers, and side dishes to main course and desserts.   Rotarians Rob Burns, Linda Zerwin, and Tim Jarzemsky helped serve over 200 hungry guests the delicious Bruschetta that was prepared by the Tony Spavone’s restaurant.  Proceeds from ticket sales and raffles went to fund both the Chamber and the local schools.

Bloomingdale Roselle Rotary Helps Local Food Pantry

Posted by Tim Jarzemsky

The Bloomingdale-Roselle Rotary club in partnership with the Bloomingdale Public Library, Village of Bloomingdale, Bloomingdale Park District, Village of Roselle, Roselle Park District, and the Roselle Public Library District, would like to thank all residents who participated and donated to our  April 2012 community-wide food drive. A total of 2,539 items and $100 in monetary contributions were donated to the Bloomingdale Township Food Pantry, which services 3,400 people in a year. Food drives in the spring and summer months are critical for replenishing our local food bank for families that may depend on food assistance. Your support and donation directly helps these families that may be struggling during this time of economic uncertainty. Thank you again for your contribution and for all the agencies that sponsored this food drive.
